Club History

The North Reading Garden Club was started in 1956 by twelve ladies who were members of the Upland Club, the local Women's club.  At first, they met at members' homes and later at the Grange Hall, the building on the Common, when they had a speaker.

In 1961, the membership, which had grown steadily, voted to join the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc.  This membership gave the club members a chance to enter flower show competitions, flower show and landscape schools, and to become a flower show judge.

Since then, the club has grown steadily in its scope and membership.  Civic Beautification is a large part of our club activities, and Garden Therapy at Sunbridge Nursing Facility is an important part of our community service.

The club meets September through June at Flint Memorial Library.  New members are always welcome!
